Hey! Fancy unleashing your funny bones? Have you wanted to try stand-up comedy, but didn’t really know where to start? Or do you know someone who would love to take to the stage as a comedian? Well, we’ve got a gift for you…
The legendary Stand Comedy Club welcomes you to our brand-new Stand Academy, where seasoned professional working comedians will be your tutors for our tough but fun bootcamp comedy course.
It’s not for the faint hearted, but our intensive one-day course will help students create a firm foundation to start your career as a stand up, or even to use these skills in the workplace to create knock out presentations and improve your public speaking.
You’ll have the chance to perform on the stage before a paying audience at the world-famous Stand Comedy Club, Edinburgh
Places are limited to only 15, so you’ll receive fairly intensive attention!
Or as we like to call it, how not to look like a fanny when you take the mic out of the stand
Taking the fear out of performing.
Beat the nerves. Even the ones that make you fart. And they do.
Working that stage, audience interaction and unarmed heckler combat
Turning your sense of humour into gags
Those stories you tell that crack everyone up? Those. Thats your material
Using those gags to structure a set
Getting you started in stand up
How the Comedy Business works
Students will be encouraged (but not bullied) into taking part at our showcase night. Using these skills learned at the Stand Academy, you could be taking the mic at the iconic Stand Comedy Club during our Showcase night.
Your very first five minutes as a comedian could be on the same stage that launched Frankie Boyle and Kevin Bridges.

Arrive Early for Seating
Tickets for the majority of our shows can be collected at the venue door upon entry however we would still advise arriving a little in advance of our door opening time. This allows you to join a queue as all venues are general admission and a mixture of seating and standing room. This is especially true for Edinburgh and Newcastle if you aim to eat in our clubs as seating with tables tend to be taken quite quickly and we can’t allocate or reserve seating in advance for that purpose.
For Edinburgh Fringe dates during August, we advise you arrive at least 30 minutes before doors open for your selected shows to collect your festival tickets. This allows you to join a queue as all venues are general admission. All venues are seated apart from Stand 1 which is seating and standing room. There is no food service during Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
A concession rate ticket applies to 60+, Students, unemployed, benefit recipients with proof of ID upon collection.
The Stand also allow carers to go free – please just call our box office for further information an to confirm your booking.
Guaranteed refunds must be requested 24 hours before the door opening time by contacting our box office during office hours or by emailing email@example.com.
Refund requests after this stage are at the discretion of the company and promoters however we will always try to help our customers if we have the opportunity to sell the tickets on.
Accepted refunds will be made for the ticket sale amount and will not include booking or postage fees unless there is company fault.
