Lee Kyle's White Elephant Stall

Sunday 24th June 2018

Lee Kyle , the regular host of our kids show, brings a family show where anything can happen.
I mean, within reason, he's not going to split an atom or anything.
The show will be different each month, sometimes it'll be a game show, sometimes a quiz, sometimes improv, sometimes a chat show. Sometimes there will be guests, sometimes there won't. Maybe it'll be a musical one month! Sometimes, Lee won't even be there and there'll be someone else doing the show instead - but they'll be awesome too!
No matter what, it's going to be brilliant man. Come along, don't be a square.
Best suited for 8-12's. Sorry, no under 5's and all young comedy fans must be accompanied by an adult.
Fancy a Sunday Roast? Why nor book a table in our Bistro upstairs for after the show? We also do Kids Sunday Lunches for only £5!
Hot food available in the club or why not treat yourself to some pre-show dining at The Stand Bistro open Mon/Tues from 5pm (show nights only), Wed-Sat from 11am and noon on Sundays.

Hal Branson: Mbolo (Work In Progress)

Sunday 24th June 2018

Most people go to Africa to do charity work to find themselves and get some purpose and meaning in their lives. To give a bit back, get some perspective and ease some middle class guilt, ashamed of their western colonial imperialist ancestry.
Fifteen years ago Hal went for all these reasons but also to try and stop smoking weed and get over a self-induced nervous breakdown.
Instead he came back having built a quarter of a school, learned the Ugandan words for both sets of genitals, got himself arrested for smoking weed on a beach in Zanzibar, bribed some Tanzanian undercover police and having had his rather nice leather sandals ripped to shreds after being attacked by a cheetah.
Come along and hear the whole sorry tale in it’s entirety.
'Effortlessly watchable' NARC
'An understated comedy gem' Huffington Post
'Hal Branson has natural affability in spades, and his self-referential storytelling is as heart-warming as his wordplay, hitting home with the audience throughout.' Giggle Beats

Mike Milligan - Shearer Shared Me Pram!

Monday 25th June 2018

Fresh from his international success as one of the best deleted scenes in the award winning movie ‘ I Daniel Blake ‘ veteran Geordie comic and newspaper columnist Mike Milligan launches his latest solo show . After previously packing his venue at the Jesterval Comedy festival with his ‘selfhelplessness’ show, he now brings us “Shearer shared me Pram ‘. In it , Mike shares the myths, tales, madness and magic of an upbringing in the warm heart of an ‘ordinary’ northern family. Indeed , Mike aims to show us there’s a true legend in all of our lives as we laugh in the shadow of adversity- or in his case - the shadow of the Dunston ‘Rocket’ block flats made famous in the eighties crisps commercial. We’ll witness his early political awakenings as he asked “why can’t me gran be the queen?”, search for Pegasus on a council estate, learn when it’s ok to wear socks in the garden and discover how his grandad was a latter - day stoic philosopher. We’ll also find out how Mike really did share that Pram with a football legend ...
Mike has written and performed for TV and radio, including; Spender, Byker Grove, Catherine Cookson dramas, Justice for Gemma (Granada) ,B.B.C’s Ross King Show, Radio 4’s Afternoon Shift and Weekending, The Paddy Kielty Show, Danni’s Dares (Ch.4), Running Jokes (Yorkshire T.V), Bundy’s rum TV campaign (Australia), It’s Funny up North (I.T.V 3), Premiership football match Promo trailer {ESPN).
Mike also appeared in Ken Loach’s award winning movie ‘I Daniel Blake ‘ as well as ITV’s latest series of ‘Vera’. He provided a voiceover for Viz Comic’s highly successful Sid the Sexist DVD, as well as performing his character live in concert at Newcastle City Hall. He also writes a popular weekly column in the Evening Chronicle and has performed a sell out one man show based upon them at the Jesterval comedy festival.

‘You’ll have a great time****’ Scotsman
‘Cracking paced show won the audience over with quality gags and observations. hecklers were gleefully seized upon.’ The Journal
‘A name to watch out for.’ Daily Telegraph
‘Snappy, sharp and packed full of belly laughs, Mike Milligan stole the show.’ Edinburgh Evening News
‘This is one of my favourite acts on the circuit at the moment. He’s a really funny guy from the North east, so spot on with all his material and truly gifted at dealing with hecklers. One of the north’s finest.’ Chortle
