The Stand Comedy Club holds at least ten benefit evenings per year in each of our venues. We’ve raised money for massive charities such as Amnesty International, the Red Cross and Friends of the Earth, smaller local charities like First Step and the Scottish Community Foundation and for plain old good causes such as Caroline Darkes bid to represent Scotland in adaptive skiing. Since 2005 we've been raising roughly £20,000 a year!
But we don’t do it alone - all acts performing at benefits are quite literally doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. As in no money. Zero pounds. All the ticket money, which usually pays their wages, goes to the charity holding the night.
And that’s where you come in! While we will endeavour to get you a great line-up for your night, and advertise it in our listings, it’s up to the organisers to make it a real success. We have more applications for benefits than nights available so we’re looking for people as committed as we are to raising money for those who need it most and who’ll really take advantage of the opportunity offered - for example, even the smallest of organisations have managed to sell us out in the past. We don’t expect that every time but we would like you to be confident of selling at least 100 tickets.
